Diagnexia in Oxford is building a cutting-edge, digitally driven pathology lab. We seek a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Dissection) to lead dissection across categories, elevate service quality, and mentor teams in a forward-looking environment.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (mandatory).
• BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent (mandatory).
• CPD and competency records required.
• IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Dissection or MSc preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years post-registration in UK histopathology/lab (mandatory).
• Strong specimen dissection experience—Category A–C.
• Category D&E experience a bonus.
• Special stains, embedding, microtome and tissue sectioning.
• Ability to mentor and supervise lab staff.
• UKAS audits preparation advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform dissection for Category A–C and evolving to D&E as service grows.
• Act as technical reference for junior staff on dissection.
• Supervise MLA/BMA to ensure timely delivery of targets.
• Lead or co-lead internal audit cycles and UKAS readiness.
• Design and deliver in-house training and competency assessments.
• Develop and maintain SOPs per RCPath/UKAS/ISO 15189 standards.
• Deputise for BMS Lead or Lab Manager during planned absence.
• Provide specialist advice to service users.
