Job summary

Ipsen in Wrexham seeks a Principal Scientist to lead Cell Line Development and Upstream Process Development. You will drive CLD/USP strategies, mentor junior scientists and collaborate with CDMOs to advance biologics programmes from candidate selection to commercial manufacturing.

The role offers hybrid working within a global biopharmaceutical context, with exposure to CHO and mammalian culture processes, and opportunities to influence development strategy across multiple projects.

Qualifications

Significant pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience in biologics development.
Deep expertise in Cell Line Development and/or Upstream Process Development.
Experience with CHO and mammalian cell culture processes.
Experience leading CMC development activities across the product lifecycle.
Proven ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.
Experience engaging with and managing CDMOs.

Responsibilities

Lead CLD and USP strategies across biologics development programmes.
Provide scientific leadership for CMC development from early development to commercialisation.
Act as SME for CLD and USP, guiding technical decisions.
Drive innovation to improve process productivity, robustness and product quality.
Represent Upstream Process Development in multidisciplinary CMC teams.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external CDMOs for development and tech transfer.
Contribute to regulatory submissions and technical documentation.
Mentor and develop junior scientists.
