Role Overview

We are seeking a focused bioinformatics expert to support the analysis and data management of translational biomarker data. The individual will explore publicly available data alongside emerging clinical trial data to provide insights into mechanisms of action, molecular heterogeneity, and novel targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze transcriptomic and genomic sequencing data from clinical trials.
• Support and develop scientific hypotheses through data mining and experimental design.
• Create custom tools and analytics for data interpretation and visualization.
• Contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
• Maintain and enhance technical knowledge through self-study, conferences, and training.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation.
• Follow health and safety policies.

Specific Responsibilities

• Lead data analysis efforts, proposing new investigations and supporting technical guidance.
• Prioritize tasks based on project goals, using evidence and experience.
• Share knowledge internally and externally; mentor colleagues as needed.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment use and recommend acquisitions.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proficiency in R/BioConductor, Linux OS, shell scripting (bash), and Python.
• Understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or related fields.
• Significant independent research experience in academia or industry.
• Proven ability to improve working practices and support team adoption.
• Experience presenting scientific findings and documenting results.
• Experience developing NGS analytical pipelines.

Desirable

• Experience leading small teams or project management.
• Knowledge of database development using SQL or similar.
• Mentoring experience and knowledge of machine learning or applied statistics.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant scientific discipline with 2-5 years of experience (preferred).
• MSc or BSc with relevant research or industrial experience (required).
