Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior BI Developer for the Digital Services Directorate. You will lead the BI development arm and drive data-led decision making, delivering engaging dashboards and reports across the business.

The role requires strong Power BI with DAX, SQL, and ETL knowledge, plus experience in data warehousing and building automated data solutions. This is a hybrid role with opportunities for continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Significant experience developing solutions using Power BI with DAX.
• Significant experience leading stakeholder engagement to identify requirements for dashboards/reports.
• Ability to read and write SQL code.
• Understanding of data lifecycle and ETL processes in complex multi-source data solutions.
• Knowledge of data warehousing principles.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key business partner to teams across the Digital Services Directorate to understand their critical business challenges and needs from a data perspective.
• Influence the approaches to using data across the Digital Services Directorate and drive a data-led culture.
• Develop engaging and innovative data presentation techniques and identify opportunities to improve existing reports.
• Work across the entire Digital Services Directorate, proactively identifying opportunities for automation of data reporting and visualisation.
• Have the confidence to challenge the status quo and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
• Establish best practices for data visualisation and reporting to make data easy to interpret and use for decisions.
• Adopt a continuous learning approach to BI development and reporting techniques, keeping up to date with latest practices.
• Support and train members of the 'Performance and Business Reporting' function in best practice and dashboard development.
