Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior BI Developer for the Digital Services Directorate. You will lead the business intelligence development arm of the Performance and Business Reporting team, driving efficiencies in data visualisation and reporting while showcasing our data across the business.

The role involves gathering requirements, designing and building solutions, and collaborating with stakeholders in a hybrid role to deliver impactful dashboards and automated reporting.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Power BI and DAX.
• Experience leading stakeholder engagement to shape dashboards or reports.
• Ability to read and write SQL.
• Understanding of data lifecycle and ETL in multi-source data solutions.
• Knowledge of data warehousing.
• Ability to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Strong workload planning and delivery under deadlines.
• Analytical and logical thinker with big-picture focus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with teams across the Digital Services Directorate to understand their data challenges and needs.
• Influence approaches to using data to drive a data-led culture and provide recommendations.
• Develop engaging data presentation techniques and improve existing reports.
• Identify opportunities for automation in data reporting and visualisation.
• Challenge the status quo and develop creative data solutions for complex problems.
• Establish best practices for data visualisation and reporting.
• Keep up to date with latest BI practices and techniques.
• Support and train the Performance and Business Reporting function in dashboard development.
