Job summary

BatAI is seeking a Senior Battery Modeling Engineer to lead multiscale physics-based models for lithium-ion batteries. You will blend electrochemistry, thermal dynamics, material science, and computational modeling to advance next-generation battery technologies.

Cross-functional collaboration with testing, data science, and implementation teams will ensure models are validated and deployed effectively. Ideal candidates have deep expertise in electrochemical modeling, transport and thermal

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc or BSc with strong engineering background.
• Experience with electrochemical modeling and transport/thermal simulations.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with model order reduction and embedded implementation.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills for cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based, multiscale electrochemical and thermal models for lithium-ion batteries.
• Model and simulate electrochemical processes, heat generation, transport, and degradation mechanisms.
• Apply numerical methods, optimization techniques, and PINNs for solving complex electrochemical models.
• Reduce the order of high-fidelity models for embedded implementation and real-time applications.
• Apply chemical engineering and heat transfer fundamentals to simulate battery formation and safety tests.
• Validate models by extracting and analyzing data using SQL and Python.
• Ensure best practices in model version control and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with product, testing, and data science teams to integrate models into workflows.
