Job summary

ElevenLabs is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, build, and operate production safety systems for AI-powered products. You will own end-to-end infrastructure, collaborate with ML, product, legal, and safety policy teams, and help deploy models into scalable production environments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of backend experience, strong Python skills, and a track record of delivering distributed, cloud-based services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience, including designing APIs, working with databases, and building scalable services.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with modern backend frameworks.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
• Comfortable owning systems end to end, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Build safety systems: Design, develop, and scale automated moderation systems, abuse detection capabilities, and guardrails for AI agents across ElevenLabs' products.
• Respond to emerging threats: Partner with Investigations to identify threats and improve safety systems.
• Own production infrastructure: Build and maintain internal safety services with architecture, deployment, reliability, and monitoring.
• Bring ML models into production: Collaborate with ML engineers to deploy and integrate models into production safety systems.
• Build end-to-end solutions: Develop backend services, APIs, internal tools, and user-facing interfaces for moderation and policy enforcement.
• Collaborate across teams: Work with Product, Legal, and Safety Policy to translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
