Job summary

Alphasights is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our UK-based remote team. You will own backend services, collaborate with product and design, and contribute to an architectural vision that scales our research platform.

You’ll work primarily with Kotlin microservices (PostgreSQL) and a touch of Ruby, with React on the frontend. CI/CD via CircleCI and Spinnaker supports rapid iteration and deployment.

Qualifications

• A degree in a STEM subject is preferred, but other routes are acceptable.
• 5+ years of experience in a mature engineering team at a similar level.
• Proven track record of impact in previous roles and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions and contribute to an architectural vision scalable for a leading research platform.
• Ship working code with Kotlin microservices and PostgreSQL; maintain Ruby on Rails components if present.
• Deploy and iterate rapidly using CI/CD tools; monitor, troubleshoot, and fix issues in production.
• Build competency and grow technically with available L&D resources.
• Maintain services and diagnose root causes to deliver reliable systems.
