Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a senior backend/mobile engineering-focused engineer based in London to shape backend systems and client-facing APIs. You will lead cross-team architectural initiatives and drive production quality across services used by web and mobile clients.

In this role you’ll partner with product and senior engineers to translate customer needs into scalable platforms, while mentoring others and driving durable architectural decisions for multi-tenant environments.

Qualifications

• Deep production backend and distributed-systems expertise across services and domains.
• Experience designing client-facing REST and GraphQL APIs with attention to backward compatibility.
• Strong authentication, authorization, entitlements, and session management knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead architectural changes across teams through influence, not authority.
• Experience improving reliability and performance with observability and production validation.
• Ability to connect technical decisions to customer value and align with senior stakeholders.
• Experience shaping API-driven product workflows for mobile and web clients.

Responsibilities

• Shape the systems behind product experiences: set direction for client-facing APIs and backend architecture.
• Lead across engineering teams to align architecture with customer and product needs.
• Turn architecture into production systems and deliver reusable solutions across teams.
• Shape shared identity and access across Web and Mobile, integrating with management services.
• Mentor engineers and propagate reusable patterns, either within an existing team or a focused mission.
