Job summary

AlphaSights is hiring a mid-level backend engineer for a remote UK role. You will work in a cross-functional team with product managers and designers to deliver scalable Kotlin microservices and PostgreSQL-backed systems.

You should have a STEM degree with experience in a mature engineering team, plus practical Kotlin and Ruby exposure and strong database skills; a proactive, detail-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM subject; candidates with alternative routes considered.
• Experience in a mature engineering team at a similar level.
• Proficiency in at least one language (Kotlin preferred, Ruby also used) and relational databases.
• Proven track record showing impact in prior roles.
• Highly driven, proactive, with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions and contribute to an architectural vision scalable for a global platform.
• Ship working code using Kotlin microservices with Postgres on the backend.
• Deploy and iterate with CI/CD tooling and gather feedback for rapid improvement.
• Build competency through the Learning & Development budget and internal mentorship.
• Maintain and troubleshoot services to prevent outages and user impact.
