Job summary

Plentific is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to work on Python Django services powering repairs, quoting, invoicing, payments, and contractor workflows. You will design APIs, build robust data pipelines, and scale data-intensive, high-traffic systems on AWS and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Python and Django with strong OO design.
• Strong command of API design, service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, and asynchronous processing.
• Relational data modelling with PostgreSQL and the ability to produce ERDs.
• Experience turning product requirements into technical designs with clear diagrams.
• Judgement around automated testing, observability, production reliability, security, and data integrity.
• Proficiency with agentic coding tools and spec-driven development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and data pipelines using Python, Django, Django REST Framework, FastAPI, and related tooling.
• Design service boundaries, API contracts, relational data models, and integration flows; produce ERDs.
• Develop asynchronous and event-driven workflows with Celery and Redis.
• Write SQL and optimise PostgreSQL schemas for performance and correctness.
• Review, refactor, and retire code to maintainability and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend/QA engineers through delivery.
