Job summary

BigHand Limited is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to own data engineering and the AWS platform powering our Agentic AI systems. This senior individual contributor role sits at the heart of a small team, focusing on Python and AWS infrastructure that underpins our AI capabilities.

You will work with data scientists, full-stack AI engineers and legal engineers to scale data processes for more customers, influence feature expansion, and mentor a mid-level backend engineer towards senior

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Python experience.
• Solid AWS services and infrastructure knowledge.
• Strong SQL and databases understanding.
• Data engineering experience with pipelines and product data integration.
• Ability to reshape existing architecture as scale occurs.
• Familiarity with modern software lifecycle practices (agentic development).
• Ability to work independently and shape technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Python data pipelines, backend services and AWS infrastructure for Agentic AI.
• Build integrations between Ayora platform and BigHand products to expose data.
• Mentor and possibly line-manage a mid-level backend engineer.
• Contribute to technical discussions and shape requirements.
• Develop robust solutions with sustainable trade-offs, avoiding shortcuts.
• Apply modern SDLC practices including agentic development, code review and CI/CD.
