Job summary

Adria Solutions is recruiting a Senior Backend Engineer for a fintech business developing a new platform for digital financial services. Based in Manchester with hybrid working, you will build reliable backend services using Node.js and explore AI-powered features.

Reporting to the CTO, you’ll own features from design through production, collaborating with product, design and payments teams while delivering secure, test-driven code and shaping engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong Node.js backend development experience.
• Proven API design and implementation skills.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server).
• Background integrating external services.
• Comfort using AI coding tools in production workflows.
• Knowledge of automated testing, Git, CI/CD and secure coding.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership in a growing team.
• Interest in fintech and improving access to financial services.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend applications using Node.js.
• Develop APIs, database services and event-driven systems.
• Connect the platform with banking, payments and third-party services via REST/GraphQL.
• Use AI coding tools to improve delivery with strong testing and security.
• Develop and deploy AI features to enhance customer experiences and processes.
• Own implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
• Contribute to architecture, code reviews and engineering standards.
• Collaborate across product, design, platform and payments teams.
