Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript for platform building.
• Proven track record mentoring a small engineering team.
• Experience delivering features across the full stack.
• Strong relational database skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
• Experience designing APIs and integrating third‑party services.
• Regular use of AI coding tools in production workflows.
• Strong foundations in automated testing, version control, CI/CD and secure coding.
• Confident in taking ownership and making technical decisions in an early‑stage environment.
• Interest in fintech, payments or improving access to financial services.

Technical Lead – Node.js, TypeScript & AI

Manchester | Hybrid | £80,000–£95,000 + benefits

Adria Solutions is recruiting a Technical Lead for a business building a new digital services platform.

This is a hands‑on role combining production coding with technical leadership. Joining an early engineering team with established backing, you’ll shape the architecture, guide delivery and support the engineers building the platform.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll remain actively involved in development while providing technical direction. You’ll resolve complex problems, review code, mentor colleagues and help establish high engineering standards.

AI coding tools will be central to your workflow. You’ll support the team in using them effectively while applying sound engineering judgement to maintain reliable, secure and maintainable software.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build platform features using Node.js, TypeScript and related technologies.
• Contribute production code while guiding a small engineering team.
• Resolve technical blockers and support engineers with complex development challenges.
• Mentor colleagues through code reviews, practical guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Shape architecture decisions and establish development standards.
• Work with platform engineers to improve CI/CD pipelines and shorten feedback cycles.
• Guide the use of AI coding tools while maintaining strong testing and security practices.
• Develop useful AI capabilities, including assistants, automation and document processing.
• Build REST and GraphQL integrations with banking systems, payments providers and external services.
• Own features from design through to deployment and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with product, design, platform and payments colleagues.

What we’re looking for

• At least eight years’ commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience building platforms with Node.js and TypeScript, or a comparable stack.
• Proven experience mentoring and supporting a small engineering team.
• Experience delivering features across the full stack.
• Strong relational database skills, using technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server.
• Experience designing APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Regular use of AI coding tools within an enterprise production development workflow.
• Strong foundations in automated testing, version control, CI/CD and secure coding.
• Confidence taking ownership and making technical decisions in an early‑stage environment.
• An interest in fintech, payments or improving access to financial services.

Desirable experience

• Designing and delivering platforms from the ground up.
• Working in banking, fintech, payments or another regulated sector.
• Deploying AI or LLM features into production.
• Cloud development using AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Containers and infrastructure as code.

The package

You’ll receive a £80,000–£95,000 salary, a generous holiday allowance with bank holidays on top, a company pension and hybrid working in Manchester.
