Job summary

Teya, a London-based fintech, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its ePOS backend team. You will join a small, autonomous group, shaping critical services and driving engineering standards across Europe.

Leverage Java 17+ and Spring Boot to build scalable APIs, own features end-to-end, and mentor peers while focusing on reliability, performance, and security in production systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building backend systems with Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Experience with system design, scalable architectures, microservices and API development.
• Strong understanding of databases, data structures, performance trade-offs and distributed systems.
• Practical experience with Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Focus on monitoring, observability, testing and operational ownership.
• Experience debugging complex issues across multiple services or systems.
• Ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions and be productive quickly.
• Clear communication skills and ability to influence technical direction.
• Collaborative approach and interest in mentoring others.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, secure, and well-tested backend code.
• Take ownership of features throughout the full SDLC from design to deployment.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, security, and ops teams.
• Build tools and integrate systems to improve reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to CI/CD and release process improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and share constructive feedback.
• Mentor and support other developers to grow the team.
• Stay updated with trends in software engineering and fintech domains.
• Troubleshoot complex issues to ensure uninterrupted service.
