Rightmove is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer in London to design and deliver scalable features for our platform. You will work with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and a modern tech stack to empower millions of users and thousands of agents.

The role emphasizes ownership, collaboration, and performance improvements within a hybrid, office-plus-remote setup. You will contribute to architecture, mentoring, and adopting new technologies while balancing feature delivery with technical debt and business

Formación

• 5+ years of backend software development with Java in a product environment.
• Proven experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot in scalable services.
• Strong knowledge of Kafka, Elasticsearch and data pipelines.
• Experience with Docker, Gradle and Hibernate in cloud deployments.
• Deep understanding of TDD and pipeline optimization.

Responsabilidades

• Designing and building new features and enhancements using Java 17+, Spring Boot, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Gradle, Hibernate, Couchbase, SQL, and Docker.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to shape solutions and align on priorities.
• Taking ownership of key technical decisions and delivering projects end-to-end.
• Balancing new feature development with technical debt, making thoughtful, pragmatic trade-offs.
• Writing high-quality, secure, and extensible code that supports both current needs and future growth.
• Communicating effectively with stakeholders and third parties to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
• Championing new and emerging technologies that add value and align with our roadmap.
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, helping to build a culture of growth, ownership, and continuous improvement.
