Job summary

Fanatics Markets in the United Kingdom is seeking a Software Engineer III (Backend) to own and scale the web backend used by our prediction and trading app.

You will lead design and implementation of scalable Go services, collaborate with product and other engineers, and establish AI-assisted development practices while ensuring security, correctness and performance in a 0→1 environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend development experience in scalable systems.
• Hands-on experience with blockchain dApps or integration with EVM/Solana.
• Experience querying and integrating blockchain data (on-chain/off-chain).
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL including SQL optimization and migrations.
• Experience with event-driven architectures like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Strong software design, testing (unit/integration/e2e), and code review discipline.
• Experience designing backend APIs and working with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and safe deployment practices for backend services.
• Experience with production reliability practices (monitoring, logging, SLO concepts).
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to ship production code and improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable backend services in Go.
• Drive evolution of markets/trading backend with product and eng teams.
• Design experimentation capabilities (feature flags, A/B tests).
• Model and manage data for markets, orders, and transactions.
• Integrate on-chain/off-chain data sources and build pipelines for blockchain data.
• Participate in reliability practices including on-call, SLOs, alerting, and incident response.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to raise quality and maintainability.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring security and correctness.
• Establish team standards for AI usage and code reviews.
