Senior Backend Engineer - Data Pipelines & AI Platform

Job summary

Dex is partnering with a founder-led team building a unified AI operating system to transform messy data into automated pricing, inventory, and distribution insights. You will own end-to-end data ingestion, workflow orchestration, and backend service architecture, shaping data quality and deployment pipelines from the ground up.

You will partner directly with the founders, owning architecture across ingestion, orchestration, and APIs, and setting standards for data integrity while building

Qualifications

• Proven production experience designing, building and operating backend systems and APIs in Python.
• Ownership of end-to-end data pipelines and workflow orchestration engines such as Airflow or custom DAG systems.
• Experience tackling messy integrations across legacy protocols, on-prem databases, SFTP feeds, and unstructured data.

Responsibilities

• Architect and operate resilient ingestion pipelines for messy customer data from legacy ERPs and flat files.
• Design and maintain observable workflow orchestration systems to keep data pipelines reliable.
• Build robust Python APIs and microservices powering AI-driven insights and interfaces.
• Set engineering standards across stack: data quality gates, schema evolution, CI/CD and observability.
