Job summary

Xe.com is seeking a senior back-end engineer to own problems end-to-end, from API design to deployment. You will build and modernize backend services that move money across currencies, leading cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations.

You will mentor mid-level engineers and drive architecture decisions in your domain. You will work daily with agentic coding tools and contribute to a scalable, reliable platform that underpins Xe's cross-border payments.

Qualifications

• 6 to 10+ years building production backend services, end-to-end.
• Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET preferred; other OOP languages welcome.
• SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Writing and maintaining tests.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools across the SDLC.
• Production experience with AWS, including deployment, CI/CD, and native services (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda).
• Strong system design and architecture experience, including microservices and event-driven patterns.
• Payments, FX, or regulated-industry experience.
• Track record of technical leadership: mentoring engineers and leading design reviews.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend services that move money and manage multi-currency balances across domains (onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, settlement).
• Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations from problem framing through launch.
• Lead the build of partner integrations and settlement infrastructure.
• Own production health for your domain, including reliability, observability, on-call, and incident response.
• Lead design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid-level engineers.
• Use agentic coding tools daily across the SDLC and drive modernization from legacy services to the new stack.
