Additional Resources Ltd is seeking a Software Developer / Software Engineer to join an innovative tech organisation delivering complex software solutions. You will design, develop and maintain high-performance backend systems in C++ and Java on Linux, collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver reliable software.

The role offers up to £78,000, with a relocation package considered for the right candidate, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires SC security clearance at time of application
• Approx 5 years of commercial software development experience using C++ with some Java in Linux environments
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience investigating, diagnosing and improving software performance in Linux
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and OO programming
• Background in enterprise backend applications, APIs and distributed systems
• Understanding of multithreading and concurrent application development
• Experience with Agile development and relational and/or NoSQL databases

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications in C++ and Java within Linux environments
• Lead the technical development of software components, services and APIs
• Produce reliable, scalable and maintainable code focused on performance and security
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level developers
• Contribute to software architecture, technical decisions and roadmaps
• Review code and promote engineering standards and practices
• Diagnose and resolve complex software issues including third-party libraries
• Build and support RESTful APIs, microservices and distributed systems
• Use static analysis, profiling and debugging tools to improve quality and performance
• Containerise applications with Docker to support deployment and scalability
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes
