Lightning AI, the company behind PyTorch Lightning, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to scale backend systems for AI development. You will design and implement backend services powering agent orchestration, APIs for tool use, and robust infrastructure for distributed AI workflows.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy new capabilities for researchers, startups, and enterprises worldwide. Based in London, San Francisco, or NYC hubs, this role requires at least two in-office

• Extensive experience building scalable backend systems.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build backend services powering AI agent orchestration.
• Develop scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use and orchestration.
• Build reliable infrastructure for long-running, distributed AI workflows.
• Collaborate with product, research, and platform teams to deploy new capabilities.
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance as workloads scale.
• Evaluate architecture, processes, and developer tooling.
• Maintain high software quality through testing, automation, and CD.
• Mentor engineers on system design and backend best practices
