Job summary

Wise is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II for the Wise for Banks team. You will drive architecture, scalability and reliability of infrastructure enabling banks to connect with Wise’s global payment network.

You’ll lead design across 700+ microservices and mentor engineers while aligning with company goals. You’ll work on event-driven systems using Kafka, relational databases like PostgreSQL, and domain-driven design to build scalable financial platforms for partner integrations and

Experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments.
Experience designing large-scale distributed systems and microservices.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of scalable and resilient services in Java and Spring Boot within the microservices architecture.
Model complex financial domains using domain-driven design.
Drive event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
Architect and optimise PostgreSQL databases for high-scale financial workflows.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support partner integrations and global expansion.
Provide technical leadership and influence architecture decisions across teams.
Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions to promote best practices.
Mentor engineers and raise technical standards across teams.
