Job summary

InvestEngine Limited in London is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join our Backoffice team. You will shape core services, drive architecture, and scale internal platforms powering critical operations.

You’ll work with Python 3.11, Django, MySQL, Redis, and REST APIs, collaborating with product, compliance, and business teams. This role emphasizes hands-on design and technical leadership without people management.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python and Django skills.
• Relational databases, caching, and high-performance backend systems.
• REST APIs design and distributed systems experience.
• Ability to own architectural decisions.
• Familiarity with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• English (B2) and fluent Russian.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python 3.11 and Django/DRF.
• Lead architectural discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
• Work with MySQL and Redis to optimize performance and scalability.
• Build and improve RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability as we grow.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Business teams to automate back-office workflows.
• Investigate and resolve production issues and reduce tech debt.
• Apply Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, GitHub Actions) and improve architecture.
