Job summary

Ofgem is modernising its core infrastructure within the DDSS directorate, delivering hybrid and cloud-native platforms with Azure as a central capability. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will lead hands-on engineering, influence design decisions and drive continuous improvement across the infrastructure estate.

The role combines operational delivery with transformation initiatives, requiring proactive problem-solving and collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience with Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, networking and operational best practice.
• Practical experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and leading incident/troubleshooting efforts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support Azure Legacy, Hybrid and Cloud infrastructure environments.
• Translate designs into operational infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Provide technical leadership and escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve stability and resilience.
• Develop automation and configuration management with PowerShell, Terraform and Azure CLI.
• Support adoption of IaC, CI/CD and monitoring solutions.
• Manage infrastructure components across their lifecycle including patching and DR.
