Job summary

Ofgem is modernising its infrastructure within the DDSS directorate, delivering Azure-based hybrid and cloud-native platforms while maintaining legacy environments. You will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, driving improvements across the estate and supporting a fast-paced transformation journey.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer role offers exposure to Azure, Linux/Windows environments, and collaboration with architects, delivery teams, and vendors as part of a UK-wide

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure and hybrid infrastructure
• Automation/scripting using PowerShell, Terraform or Azure CLI
• Strong understanding of infrastructure security, networking and operations
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD and infrastructure automation

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support Azure Legacy, Hybrid and Cloud infrastructure
• Translate designs into operational infrastructure solutions
• Provide technical leadership and escalation point for complex issues
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve stability and resilience
• Develop automation and configuration management approaches using tools such as PowerShell, Terraform and Azure CLI
• Support adoption of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and monitoring solutions
• Manage infrastructure components across lifecycle including patching, backup and DR
• Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers for service delivery
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and tooling
