Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to design, implement and maintain cloud-native applications on AWS, with a focus on serverless services. You will manage multi-tenant EKS/Kubernetes environments, drive IaC using Terraform/AWS CDK, and deliver robust REST/GraphQL APIs with React/TypeScript frontend work.

You will collaborate across teams, enhance CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and uphold security and reliability across the stack.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS services experience (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, Cognito, CloudWatch).
• Experience designing, deploying and operating AWS workloads in regulated environments.
• Hands-on EKS/Kubernetes production-grade clusters and multi-tenant architectures.
• Experience with Terraform for IaC and Helm for deployments; GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Proficiency in TypeScript; React frontend development; REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures; strong DevSecOps understanding.
• Familiarity with secure-by-design principles and security controls across cloud, container and CI/CD.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS serverless services (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, Cognito and CloudWatch).
• Architect and support highly regulated, multi-tenant EKS/Kubernetes clusters.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or similar tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Build and support modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Implement and optimise REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Contribute to event-driven and microservices architectures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, support DevOps processes (CI/CD pipelines and configuration management), and troubleshoot issues across the technology stack.

Qualifications

AWS & Cloud (Mandatory)

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
  • Lambda
  • API Gateway

• Proven experience designing, building, deploying and operating AWS workloads.
• Experience working in highly regulated and secure environments.

Kubernetes & Platform Engineering

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with:
  • EKS/Kubernetes production-grade clusters
  • Multi-tenant Kubernetes architectures
  • Platform reliability, scalability and observability

DevOps & Automation

• Experience implementing fully automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (mandatory).
• Configuration and deployment using Helm Charts.
• Scripting and automation using Python and Bash.

Application & Development

• Proficiency in TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with React frontend development.
• Experience developing and integrating:
  • REST APIs
  • GraphQL APIs
• Demonstrated understanding of:
  • Microservices architectures
  • Event-driven architectures

  Quality & Testing

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Exposure to relevant testing frameworks.
  • Commitment to code quality, reliability and maintainability.

  Security & DevSecOps

  • Demonstrated understanding of:
    • Secure-by-design principles
    • DevSecOps practices
    • Security controls across cloud, container and CI/CD layers

  Collaboration & Problem Solving

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across the full technology stack.
  • Ability to work in complex, distributed system environments.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.

  Nice to Have

  • Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect and/or DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience with GraphQL security and API governance.
