Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow in Manchester is seeking a Managing Application Developer to lead cloud development for Public Sector and Defence projects. You will oversee design, build, and maintenance of cloud‑based applications, mentoring junior and mid‑level developers and guiding the full software development lifecycle.

You will drive architectural decisions, ensure security and compliance, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver high‑impact solutions.

Qualifications

Must have strong experience in full‑stack development (front‑end and back‑end).
Proven cloud platform expertise (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud).
Demonstrated leadership and effective communication with teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

System design and development of secure, scalable cloud apps using full‑stack tech.
Lead and mentor junior/mid developers to foster innovation and quality.
Oversee SDLC with focus on design, coding, testing and deployment of cloud‑native solutions.
Improve development practices to meet IBM delivery standards.
Shape the technical direction of cloud app development in Public Sector and Defence.
Lead smaller end‑to‑end projects from architecture to deployment.
Coach junior developers and share knowledge across teams.
