• Extensive experience in Power Distribution, ideally within a Distribution Network Owner environment at 11kV or above.
• Hold SSEN DNO Authorisation – Up to 33kV Full SFT.
• Possess a current Senior Authorised Person certificate for a Distribution Network Owner system.

Summary

Freedom is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsible for executing construction and asset replacement projects on 11kV - 132kV distribution networks. The role involves operational, technical, and safety duties related to the construction, maintenance, and commissioning of projects. The SAP will play a key role in ensuring the safety of the business's teams and the proper functioning of electrical apparatus during energisation or re-energisation. The position requires leadership, teamwork, sound technical knowledge, a positive safety culture, and strong technical awareness.

Key responsibilities include:

• Organising and executing HV switching, isolation, earthing, and safety documentation duties on HV networks up to 11kV, 33kV, and/or 132kV, following safety rules and procedures.
• Preparing switching programmes and system alteration forms.
• Ensuring 100% accurate execution of operational schedules and safety documentation on site.
• Supporting construction teams with technical knowledge.
• Performing spiking of HV cables and pressure testing of plant before energisation.
• Ensuring safety from the system.
• Fostering a positive working culture emphasizing safety, workmanship, attention to detail, and team development.
• Commissioning and operating electrical plant and equipment within substations.
• Maintaining and updating records of completed works.

Candidate requirements:

• Supporting construction teams with technical expertise to ensure standards, safety, and fit-for-purpose HV plant.
• Extensive experience in Power Distribution, ideally within a Distribution Network Owner environment at 11kV or above.
• Hold SSEN DNO Authorisation – Up to 33kV Full SFT.
• Possess a current Senior Authorised Person certificate for a Distribution Network Owner system.
• HNC in Electrical Engineering - Power Distribution (preferred).
• Safety qualifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent.
