Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Asset Engineer to lead a small team of Asset Engineers focused on Structures and Dartford Crossing assets. The role emphasizes developing value-led decisions and risk-based strategies for inspection, maintenance, and renewal, balancing whole-life costs with contract performance.

You will develop and implement asset management plans for bridges, tunnels, and related structures, while coordinating with cross-asset teams and ensuring deadlines are met in the forward

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Structures, Tunnels or related subject.
• Working towards Professional Qualification (MICE, MIAM, MIStructE or similar).
• Knowledge of highway bridge asset management and bridge inspection/maintenance.
• Experience in risk identification and management for civils infrastructure.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and structures/tunnel maintenance know-how.
• Understanding of National Highways and ISO55000 concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Asset Engineers focusing on Structures and Dartford Crossing Infrastructure.
• Develop value-led decision processes for long-term asset management.
• Lead risk-based strategies for inspection, maintenance and renewal work.
• Develop and implement asset management strategies for bridges, culverts, walls, gantries and masts.
• Review inspection reports and identify essential maintenance requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-Asset teams to balance renewal and routine needs.
• Develop management plans for strategic assets and drive lifecycle studies.
• Guide budgeting and forward-planning to meet deadlines.
• Support scheme identification and deliver delegated schemes with project managers.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and contract service schedules; participate in emergencies.
