Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking an experienced Principal Architectural Technologist/Lead Designer to support major construction and architectural projects within a local authority environment. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure delivery to programme and budget, and perform Lead Designer and Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015.

You will advise on procurement routes, prepare tender documentation, and coordinate with clients and contractors to deliver high-quality designs.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as Architectural Technologist / Lead Designer or similar senior role.
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Experience delivering construction projects from feasibility through construction.
• Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, especially Principal Designer.
• Experience preparing technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong knowledge of NBS and AutoCAD.
• Experience with building contracts, procurement processes and tender analysis.
• Experience coordinating contractors and other construction professionals.
• Strong understanding of project cost, programme, quality and risk management.
• Experience working with clients and senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of BREEAM and sustainable design principles.
• Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to chair meetings and confidently represent the service at senior level.
• Proactive in identifying and managing design and construction risks.
• Commitment to CPD and staying up to date with industry developments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams through design, procurement and construction phases.
• Deliver projects to agreed programme, budget and quality standards.
• Undertake Lead Designer and Principal Designer roles per CDM Regulations 2015.
• Coordinate projects with architects, engineers, contractors and other professionals.
• Conduct feasibility studies, surveys and technical assessments with reports for senior management.
• Prepare cost estimates, sketches, working drawings, details, specifications and tender docs.
• Prepare tender documentation using NBS and AutoCAD systems.
• Advise clients on contracts, procurement routes and delivery options.
• Analyze tenders and prepare recommendations for acceptance.
• Represent the service at senior client and stakeholder meetings.
• Manage and coordinate principal contractors and sub-contractors.
• Chair project meetings and maintain clear communications.
