Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting a Senior or Principal Building Structures Engineer for major UK infrastructure projects, including Ministry of Justice buildings. You will lead the structural design, deliver robust solutions, and manage design quality and programme across multiple schemes.

Applicants should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, be Chartered or Incorporated, and have extensive experience leading engineers and technicians, with familiarity in Tekla Structural Designer and

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Extensive building-structures design experience.
• Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures.
• Detailed knowledge of Structural Eurocodes, Building Regulations and design governance.
• Experience leading engineers and technicians.
• Ability to produce, check and approve technically robust engineering deliverables.
• Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution.
• Experience managing quality and programme performance across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of structural designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Develop technically robust solutions that comply with Structural Eurocodes, Building Regulations and client requirements.
• Review and check engineering deliverables, taking responsibility for technical quality.
• Lead and support engineers and technicians working across single and multidisciplinary projects.
• Manage design quality and programme performance across multiple schemes.
• Develop solutions for new-build, refurbishment, alteration and strengthening projects.
• Coordinate with architects, building-services engineers, contractors and other technical disciplines.
• Undertake site surveys, inspections and technical assessments.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Manage design risks and support compliance with CDM Regulations.
• Contribute to bids, fee proposals and work-winning activity.
• At Principal level, manage project budgets, resources and commercial performance.
• Mentor and professionally develop junior engineers.
• Undertake people-management responsibilities where required.
