City of Portsmouth College is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join the Apprenticeship Team at the Highbury Campus. You will lead compliance checks, ensure ESFA funding rules are followed, and work with curriculum teams, employers and learners to deliver accurate records and robust governance.

The role requires strong administration and analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to risk management, supporting continuous improvement and staff development.

Qualifications

• CIPD Level 3 or willingness to study further.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Strong Maths and English skills as a baseline.
• Proven organisational and time-management abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Background in HR is desirable.
• Computer literate.

Responsibilities

• Lead monitoring, audit and compliance of apprenticeship programmes.
• Quality assure Apprenticeship Service records and secure funding per ESFA rules.
• Perform compliance checks and data validation on ILR and funding records.
• Support audits to ensure learner records and evidence are robust.
• Maintain accurate apprenticeship documentation across MIS and compliance systems.
• Be the first point of contact for apprenticeship compliance queries.
• Monitor health and safety documentation and ensure records are compliant.
• Prepare audit findings, reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Review and improve compliance processes and governance to minimise risk.
