Job summary

Macstaff is seeking an Applications Engineer (Sealing & Hydraulics) in the Cirencester area on the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire border. This senior, hands-on role involves taking ownership of product applications from enquiry through design, development, manufacturing and release.

You will apply engineering design and materials knowledge to deliver high-performance sealing solutions for demanding industries, with involvement in design reviews, CAD, and customer support.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design and product engineering in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of O-rings, seals, hydraulic systems or fluid-power applications.
• Understanding of engineering materials incl elastomers and composites.
• Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD and GD&T.
• Familiarity with precision manufacturing processes and QA systems.
• Strong problem-solving and customer-facing communication.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision components including seals and bearings.
• Provide technical guidance on sealing systems and material selection.
• Create detailed SolidWorks drawings with GD&T and tolerances.
• Support customers with site visits and application reviews.
• Investigate performance issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and teams to deliver projects.
• Support ISO 9001, PPAP, FMEA and First Article Inspection.
