Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment is seeking a Principal Design and Applications Engineer to join a growing engineering business in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The role focuses on sealing and hydraulic applications, from initial enquiry through design and release, working with customers, suppliers, sales and engineering to deliver robust solutions.

The position offers a hands-on, customer-facing environment with a strong emphasis on technical excellence and relocation support.

Qualifications

• Significant design engineering or applications experience.
• Hands-on sealing products across elastomeric/thermoplastic.
• Strong hydraulics and fluid power knowledge.
• Experience with rod, piston, rotary seals.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in Oil & Gas or motorsport advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical contact for sealing and hydraulic applications.
• Provide guidance on seal selection and materials.
• Design hydraulic sealing solutions and create drawings.
• Produce 3D/2D designs using SolidWorks with GD&T.
• Lead technical failure analyses and corrective actions.
• Work with suppliers on manufacturing processes.
• Visit customer and supplier sites as needed.
• Support PPAP, ISIRs, FMEA, and 8D.
• Create technical documentation including notes and datasheets.
