Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design and Applications Engineer in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. The role focuses on sealing and hydraulic applications, taking ownership from inquiry through to design and release, with close collaboration with customers, suppliers, sales and engineering to develop robust solutions.

The position requires hands-on sealing product experience, hydraulics knowledge, SolidWorks proficiency, and a strong grasp of GD&T and material selection.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in design or applications engineering.
• Experience with sealing products across elastomeric, thermoplastic and composite materials.
• Strong hydraulics knowledge and fluid power applications.
• Experience with hydraulic sealing systems (Rod, Piston, Wiper, Buffer Seals).
• Proficient in GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical contact for customers on sealing and hydraulic projects.
• Provide guidance on seal selection, design and material compatibility.
• Design and specify hydraulic sealing solutions (Rod, Piston, Wipers, etc.).
• Create 3D/2D designs with SolidWorks and produce drawings with GD&T.
• Lead technical failure analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with suppliers on manufacturing processes and tolerances.
• Support PPAP, ISIRs, NCRs, FMEA and other quality activities.
• Produce technical documentation (datasheets, application notes).
• Visit customer/supplier sites when required.
