Birmingham, Black Country and Solihull ICB is recruiting a Senior Prescribing Advisor Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) to lead governance, strategy and improvement across the cluster. The post will drive AMS activity and collaboration with Medicines Commissioning and Clinical Policy teams to enhance antimicrobial use and patient outcomes.

This fixed-term, part-time role (20.5 hours per week) requires a pharmacist with national AMS knowledge and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant post-registration AMS knowledge and understanding of national AMR/AMS agenda.
• Experience analysing prescribing data, audits, or quality indicators.
• Experience in budget setting and financial processes.
• Experience developing robust operational and strategic plans.
• Pharmacy degree (MPharm) plus pre-registration year and GPhC registration.
• Clinical diploma or equivalent evidence of clinical experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel across the cluster.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership for AMS programme across the organisation.
• Develop and operationalise the AMS governance structure and strategy.
• Ensure delivery of AMS reporting at local, regional and national levels.
• Monitor AMS risks and maintain them on risk registers.
• Oversee delivery of AMS priorities and progress monitoring.
• Develop programme of work to support AMS in general practice and primary care.
• Coordinate system-wide priorities to support National Action Plan targets 2024–2029.
• Hold responsibility for antimicrobial governance and education of healthcare professionals.
