Job summary

Deliveroo seeks a Senior Android Software Engineer to join the SDUI team in London. You will design, build, and scale the Android renderer and backend services, enabling a unified UI across platforms. The role focuses on performance, maintainability, and close collaboration with iOS, Web, and product teams.

You will own large-scale initiatives, mentor teammates, and help drive platform decisions while maintaining high standards of code quality and testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building Android apps at scale (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose).
• Backend experience: Golang, Kotlin, Protobuf; ability to move between client and server code.
• Experience with server-driven / declarative UI systems and a mindset for platform services.
• Ownership of technical delivery within cross-functional teams and platform thinking.
• Strong communication across time zones with iOS/Web/Backend teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve the Android SDUI renderer and backend services.
• Lead architectural improvements and code reviews for maintainability and health.
• Partner with iOS/Web renderers, product, and design teams for rollout planning.
• Own large-scale initiatives from design to delivery, including motion/interaction parity.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering hiring processes.
