Job summary

Markel International in London is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to improve underwriting and claims capabilities through data-led decision making. You will deliver insights, analytical solutions and operational improvements across the London Market and Asia Pacific divisions.

You will design, develop and govern Power BI dashboards, data models and automated reporting, while leveraging Databricks, Data Lake and Azure services to scale analytics and support business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering BI, analytics and reporting solutions.
• Strong Power BI development skills with performance optimisation.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms (Databricks, Data Lake, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver analytics solutions as part of IPA capability.
• Implement automated reporting and analytics to promote data-led decision making.
• Evaluate Genie AI / AI-BI capabilities and govern outputs.
• Identify Genie AI use cases to improve self-service insights and reduce manual reporting.
• Partner with stakeholders to enhance underwriting, claims and operations insights.
• Lead the development, governance and deployment of Power BI dashboards.
• Develop data models, SQL views and conformed datasets.
• Contribute to migrating processes to the Data Analytics Cloud Platform.
• Maintain and optimise Databricks notebooks and data pipelines.
• Shape the data platform roadmap with the Data Platforming team.
