Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Senior Catastrophe Analyst to lead catastrophe modelling, exposure management, and portfolio analytics to inform underwriting decisions and risk management. You will partner with underwriters and senior stakeholders to drive profitable portfolio performance across international markets.

The role requires London market catastrophe modelling experience, strong SQL/Python skills, and the ability to deliver data-driven insights for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Catastrophe modelling or aggregation management experience in the London market.
• Strong problem solving and ability to challenge modelling assumptions.
• Excellent IT skills with SQL and/or Python.
• Experience with catastrophe management standards and portfolio aggregation.
• Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with divisional underwriters.
• Provide ad hoc analytics for underwriting portfolio analysis and reporting for senior executives.
• Use third party catastrophe models and in-house tools for pre-underwriting analysis.
• Present results and ideas to senior stakeholders and underwriting teams.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in other Markel offices and the wider portfolio analytics team.
• Liaise closely with outsourcing partners and model vendors.
• Assist in team projects and initiatives, such as view of risk development.
• Assist in producing reporting for both within the organization and for outside parties, including Lloyds and the PRA.
