Job summary

Markel International is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to enhance underwriting and claims capabilities through data-driven insights. You will deliver analytics solutions, automated reporting and dashboards across London Market & Asia Pacific divisions, working within the Data Analytics & Insights team and supported by the Data Platforming function.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering BI, analytics and reporting solutions.
• Strong Power BI development skills (DAX, Power Query, semantic modelling).
• Experience with Kimball data warehousing principles is advantageous.
• Strong SQL and data modelling skills for large datasets.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms (Databricks, Data Lake, Azure).
• Python experience is beneficial.
• Experience automating processes and scalable analytics solutions.
• Experience owning enterprise reporting environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver analytics solutions as part of IPA.
• Develop automated reporting and analytics to promote data-led decision making.
• Evaluate and adopt Genie AI / AI-BI capabilities with governance in mind.
• Identify Genie AI use cases to enhance self-service insights.
• Partner with business teams to improve underwriting, claims and operations through analytics.
• Lead development and governance of Power BI dashboards and assets.
• Build and optimize data models, SQL views and data pipelines.
• Contribute to migration to the Data Analytics Cloud Platform.
