Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join Curve’s central data team in London. You will design and develop scalable analytics pipelines (dbt + BigQuery) and model complex datasets across payments, credit and growth.

The role requires 5+ years in analytics/data engineering, strong SQL, and cloud data warehousing expertise. We offer hybrid working and a competitive salary package in the UK.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in analytics engineering or data engineering.
  • Deep hands-on experience using dbt as a primary transformation tool.
  • Expert-level SQL skills and experience modelling large-scale datasets in a cloud data warehouse.
  • Strong experience with BigQuery, including incremental models, partitioning and cost optimisation.
  • Experience designing and owning complex data models from requirements through to production.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain engineering standards, testing strategies and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience implementing data quality controls, monitoring and automated testing.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles including Git, version control and modular development.
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other analytics engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop production-grade ELT pipelines using dbt and BigQuery.
  • Own modelling of datasets across payments, credit and growth.
  • Mentor other analytics engineers and set engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with Data/BI teams and stakeholders to ensure reliable data.

What you’ll be doing…

We're looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join Curve’s central data team, helping to build a robust and scalable analytics platform that transforms raw data into trusted, analytics-ready data products. You’ll lead the design and development of production-grade ELT pipelines using dbt and BigQuery, own the modelling of complex and business-critical datasets across areas such as payments, credit and growth, and drive best practices in data modelling, testing, CI/CD and performance optimisation. Working closely with Data Engineering, BI Engineering and business stakeholders, you’ll help ensure data is accessible, reliable and cost-efficient, while mentoring other analytics engineers and shaping the standards that support a high-performing data function.

What we’re looking for?
  • 5+ years' experience in analytics engineering, data engineering or a related discipline
  • Deep hands‑on expertise using dbt as a primary transformation tool
  • Expert‑level SQL skills and experience modelling large-scale datasets in a cloud data warehouse
  • Strong experience with BigQuery, including incremental models, partitioning and cost optimisation
  • Experience designing and owning complex data models from requirements through to production
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain engineering standards, testing strategies and CI/CD practices
  • Experience implementing data quality controls, monitoring and automated testing
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles including Git, version control and modular development
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate requirements into scalable data solutions
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other analytics engineers
  • Knowledge of orchestration tools such as Airflow or Composer
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
And it would be great if you had any of the following...
  • Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience working with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
  • Experience within Fintech, Financial Services, Payments or Retail Banking
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior team members
  • Exposure to Looker or similar BI reporting platforms
