Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Air Traffic Controller to lead busy control tower operations in Randburg, Gauteng. You will ensure safe, orderly traffic flow and mentor junior controllers, upholding strict safety standards in a high-demand environment.

The role requires a SACAA license, 8+ years of ATC experience, and excellent communication under pressure, with rotating shifts including nights and holidays. A strong leadership presence is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Air Traffic Controller License (SACAA) or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience as a qualified ATC, with terminal or en-route experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex airspace and high-density traffic.

Responsibilities

• Control and manage all aspects of air traffic within assigned airspace, ensuring safe separation of aircraft.
• Issue clearances, instructions, and advisories to pilots to maintain safe flight paths and prevent collisions.
• Monitor radar displays, flight progress strips, and other surveillance systems to track aircraft movements.
• Coordinate with other ATC units, airlines, and airport operations to ensure seamless traffic flow.
• Manage emergency situations, providing guidance and coordination for distressed aircraft.
• Adhere to standard operating procedures, regulations, and ATC manuals.
• Train and mentor junior ATC, providing guidance and assessing performance.
• Conduct regular reviews of ATC procedures and suggest improvements for safety and efficiency.
• Maintain high situational awareness and decision-making at all times.
• Ensure compliance with aviation authorities' directives in Randburg, Gauteng.
