About the Role

Our client, a major aviation services provider, is looking for a diligent and alert Air Traffic Controller Assistant to support operations at a busy aerodrome in Randburg, Gauteng, ZA. This crucial support role involves assisting certified Air Traffic Controllers in managing the safe and efficient flow of air traffic. You will be responsible for monitoring radar screens, communicating with pilots, maintaining logs, and performing various administrative tasks that ensure the smooth functioning of the control tower. This position requires an individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a strong understanding of aviation procedures. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor radar displays and provide essential information to Air Traffic Controllers.
• Relay flight information, clearances, and instructions between controllers and pilots.
• Maintain accurate flight progress strips and logs.
• Assist with communication protocols and ensure adherence to standard phraseology.
• Monitor weather conditions and relay relevant information to controllers and flight crews.
• Operate and maintain communication and navigation equipment as directed.
• Perform administrative duties, including filing reports and managing documentation.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure air traffic environment.
• Respond quickly and effectively to operational needs and emergencies.
• Assist in coordinating ground movements and ensuring efficient runway utilization.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Completion of an accredited Air Traffic Control training program or equivalent relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex procedures quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with clear and concise articulation.
• Strong situational awareness and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively under stress and in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be a South African citizen or hold permanent residency.
