Job summary

Faculty is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead original technical research in AI safety, balancing scientific rigor with practical impact. You will shape the research agenda, contribute to frontier labs and government partnerships, and develop robust tooling to accelerate discovery.

You will work with cross‑functional safety teams and publish influential work, advancing safe AI deployment while advancing the company’s mission and impact.

Qualifications

• Strong track record in AI research, evidenced by publications or equivalent experience.
• Capability to own research end-to-end, framing novel problems to high-quality artifacts.
• Passion for technical AI safety, developed in academia or industry labs.
• Deep knowledge of language models and generative AI architectures, including white-box techniques.
• Strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals, esp. robustness, explainability, uncertainty estimation.
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and the Python skills to build robust research tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead original technical research in AI safety, from question to high‑impact publication.
• Shape the research agenda with high‑impact projects balancing rigor and relevance.
• Contribute thought leadership to support evaluation and red‑teaming efforts.
• Support global leadership through external engagements with frontier labs and government stakeholders.
• Develop robust, reproducible research code and engineering infra to accelerate discovery.
• Collaborate with safety teams to translate research into practical mitigation strategies.
