Job summary

Faculty seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead high-impact AI safety projects within our National Security and AI Safety unit. You will shape evaluation standards, design robust software architectures, and mentor teammates while partnering with Frontier Labs to deliver rigorous, secure AI solutions.

You will drive scientific innovation, develop novel evaluation methods, and help translate complex research into practical, defendable safety frameworks for real-world applications.

Qualifications

• Senior data science experience or equivalent in upstream safety research.
• Strong Python expertise with NumPy/Pandas.
• Experience with evaluation frameworks and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead upstream AI safety projects and define technical direction for evaluations.
• Design robust software architectures for new engagements.
• Mentor technical team members and ensure delivery rigour.
• Collaborate with Frontier Labs to shape project scope and feasibility.
• Contribute to thought leadership through research and publications.
• Maintain rigorous scientific methodology across project lifecycles.
