Job summary

A&O Shearman seeks a Senior AI Engineer (Manager) to join the IT (EA & Technology Platforms) team, based in Belfast or London. You will lead strategy, design, and implementation of AI/ML use cases across the firm, managing a team of IT professionals and coordinating external providers.

The role covers full lifecycle of AI solutions—from model development and validation to deployment and integration—while driving architectural best practices and business value for fee earners and business

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning and AI model development.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or C# with strong software development practices.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or scikit-learn.
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) with emphasis on Azure.
• Experience using AI coding assistants with proper engineering controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, design and implementation of advanced AI/ML use cases.
• Manage and motivate a team of IT professionals and coordinate external service providers.
• Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions from development to deployment and integration.
• Build scalable AI architectures aligned with best practices and business outcomes.
• Provide mentorship and performance management within the AI Engineering team.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to map AI use cases to outcomes and drive value.
