Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast or London seeks a Senior AI Engineer Manager to lead the AI Platform strategy, design, and deployment across the firm. You will be a member of the AI leadership, guiding a team of IT professionals and external providers to deliver advanced AI and ML use cases.

The role requires strong background in machine learning, data analysis and software development, and involves driving end-to-end lifecycle, scalable architecture, and stakeholder alignment to maximize business value.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, data analysis, and software development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C#.
• Experience with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), experience with Azure a plus.
• Experience leveraging AI code-writing assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex) with appropriate engineering controls in professional environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI Engineering team and motivate a mix of IT professionals and external providers.
• Define and implement the full lifecycle of AI solutions from model development to deployment.
• Drive scalable architecture and best practices across AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to map AI use cases to business outcomes.
• Monitor performance, provide mentorship, and manage service provider reviews.
