Job summary

A&O Shearman is seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Manager) to lead our AI capabilities across the IT (EA & Technology Platforms) team. Based in Belfast or London, you will drive strategy, design and deployment of advanced AI and ML use cases, while directing a team of IT professionals and external providers.

You will own the full lifecycle of AI solutions—from model development to deployment—ensuring scalable architecture and alignment with business objectives and best practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI model development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C#.
• Experience with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proven project and program management capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for AI strategy, design and implementation across the firm.
• Manage and mentor a global AI engineering team and coordinate external providers.
• Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions from development to deployment and integration.
• Build scalable AI architectures aligned with best practices and business outcomes.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to map AI use cases to business value.
• Champion continuous improvement of AI capabilities and platform roadmap.
