BT Group is seeking a Principal AI-Native Systems Engineer to lead the design and engineering of cloud-native, data-intensive AI-enabled systems across RAN, Core, data and automation domains. The role emphasizes hands-on delivery from concept to production, working with users, architects and software engineers to ensure secure, testable and outcome-driven solutions.

The successful candidate will define end-to-end architecture, set engineering standards, and guide teams through complex design

Competenze

• Extensive experience designing complex software systems and distributed platforms.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery and design.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, networking, APIs, and performance trade-offs.
• Proficient with cloud compute platforms, especially AWS, including security and observability.
• Programming in Go, Rust, C/C++, Java; Python knowledge is a plus for data/automation.
• Ability to set technical direction and guide teams through ambiguity.
• Secure-by-design, test-first, observable practices in delivery workflows.
• Excellent communication with users, engineers and senior leaders.
