Job summary

ASOS is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to build and lead an AI engineering team spanning FinTech and Fashion Tech. This hands-on leadership role combines line management with active coding, delivering production-grade AI agents and automation.

You will collaborate with Finance, Merchandising and the central AI team to align strategy, governance and real-world impact. You will shape engineering standards, drive delivery end-to-end, and mentor engineers while staying close to code and platform

Qualifications

• Experience leading a hands-on AI/ML engineering team.
• Proven ability to design and deliver production AI solutions.
• Strong coding skills in Python or C#/.NET.
• Experience with cloud deployments and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Line manage a team of AI Engineers, covering objectives, development, career progression and performance.
• Grow the team with hiring and onboarding, and build required skills.
• Mentor through design reviews, pairing and code reviews, with constructive feedback.
• Maintain team health and capacity to ensure balanced workload.
• Own the tech direction and engineering standards, including architecture and patterns.
• Oversee build vs buy decisions, cost, performance and technical debt.
• Stay hands-on: code, prototype, unblock the team, and ship production AI solutions.
• Design, build and ship production-ready agents and automation that integrate with platforms.
• Own delivery: backlog, capacity, governance, and production handoff for concepts.
• Run work via Azure DevOps and follow ASOS delivery processes and guardrails.
• Own live agents/automations, with monitoring, runbooks and incident response.
• Collaborate with Finance, Commercial, Buying and Merchandising to identify automation needs.
• Coordinate with the central AI team and report progress to stakeholders.
